Experience the Nile

What would Egypt be without the Nile, which with a total length of more than 6600 km is considered the longest river on earth. It is both the lifeline of the country and an ambassador of history, made famous by the multitude of testimonies to early Egyptian civilization that line its banks.
And what would a trip to Egypt be without a cruise on the Nile? From Luxor to Aswan and back the journey leads, and immediately one thinks of the famous excavation sites left and right of the river: the Valley of the Kings, the temples of Luxor and Karnak, Edfu, Kom Ombo, the temple of Philae…
But a river cruise on Africa’s most important river offers so much more in terms of experiences. The bustling life in Luxor, the dam in Aswan, the lock of Esna, just to name a few. And not to forget, the journey itself: sitting on the sun deck and letting the green shores with their villages, plantations and people pass by – that is relaxation of a very special kind.
What could be more suitable than to combine this form of travel with a stay at the beach, to add a few days on the beach after the Nile cruise and enjoy the warm waters of the Red Sea?
To experience the Nile with ECCO Travel is to experience Egypt!

Small ships – great experiences

Our Nile ships are large enough to avoid boredom – and small enough to ensure a personal atmosphere.
Between 58 and 70 outside cabins, all with private shower/WC, are spread over three decks. Each ship has a reception, dining room, bar/lounge and of course a large sundeck with deck chairs and small swimming pool.
This also ensures during the layovers in Luxor (at the beginning and at the end) as well as in Aswan that the time on board will not be boring if you want to stay there.
The cruises are combined with your desired bathing hotel on the Red Sea; on-site support and all transfers are of course included when booking a package tour.

Tips for your Nile combination

In addition to the excursion packages that can be booked ( Sightseeing), you can also decide in advance whether you prefer to enjoy all-inclusive on board or pay for your own drinks in addition to the full board already included in the price. You can also determine the choice of deck in advance.
The Nile cruises can be booked all year round, and especially in winter/spring the daytime temperatures are very pleasant. In the evening it can get chilly on the outside deck, especially when the ship is moving – it is recommended to bring a warmer jacket here.
Exchange messages with loved ones at home and stay online in other ways? The easiest way to do this is with an additional SIM card, which you can buy at your hotel upon arrival. Network coverage along the Nile is very good.

Sights

Not only the number of historical sites worth visiting is impressive – also the different expressions of temples, excavations and hieroglyphs make the visit of the sights something very special. We have put together a selection for you, áls package already bookable in advance with your Nile cruise. The price of 249 € per adult includes the following excursions: Luxor: Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, Memnon Colossi. Edfu: Temple of Horus. Kom Ombo: Double temple. Aswan: Isis Temple on Philae Island, dam and unfinished obelisk.

During the stay in Aswan, an optional excursion to Abu Simbel can be organized locally (approx. 115 € per person).

During your vacation, a full-day air excursion to Cairo is available (€325 per adult), during which you will visit the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and the Egyptian Museum.

Entry and visa

As is generally the case when entering Egypt, the following naturally also applies to the Nile combinations: German citizens require a visa. This can be obtained upon entry directly at the airport for a fee of approx. EUR 32 – ECCO-Reisen will take care of providing it. Should you obtain your visa in advance at the Egyptian Embassy in Berlin or at the Consulates General in Frankfurt and Hamburg (also for a fee) or otherwise by yourself, please inform us in advance.
