The weather in Turkey

The best time to visit Turkey is from April to June or September to November, when the weather is more temperate. In the interior, however, it can get very hot. So if you plan to go hiking or do other outdoor activities, be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and water.

The weather turns out very differently in Turkey. The summer months are quite warm with an average of 30 °C – perfect for a beach vacation! In winter you can expect lower temperatures and in general you can expect a humid climate.

Tips for the vacation

Turkey is based on a long history. This will allow you to experience historical places and cities; Istanbul in particular is an absolute highlight! The city was once the capital of three great empires, and you can feel this history in every corner. Other historical places are, for example, the city of Troy or Mount Olympus.

Culinary Turkey offers a wide range of local specialties: try, for example, the world-famous Turkish kebabs or the delicious baklava, a sweet pastry made of filo dough, nuts and honey. Also, don’t forget to try the Turkish coffee, which is served in small cups and is very strong!

Sights

The small towns on the coast facing the Mediterranean Sea are full of surprises and have many activities to offer. For example, book sailboat tours in the Aegean Sea and experience the Turkish ambience from a whole new side.

When visiting the metropolis of Istanbul, you should visit the Blue Mosque, an Ottoman architectural masterpiece. Or visit Hagia Sophia, which was once a Christian church and is now a mosque. Also explore the Basilica Cistern, a fascinating underground water reservoir dating back to the 6th century. The Grand Bazaar in Istanbul has no less than 4,000 stores and is the largest covered marketplace in the world!
